Could you please explain a bit this moment: "After spending ~4 months building, we launched an early access version to a few select customers who we thought would benefit most." - how did you figure out those customers who you thought would benefit the most? They filled some questionary on landing page and their answers helped you define that these prospects probably will benefit the most? I mean that this also was a bet. Just wondering about finding and developing an initial set of first reference customers.
And another question (if you don't mind) about the pricing. You wrote, that target customers could get +$20K/year and you decided to sell for $1K which is 5% of a year growth. Why is that number? Not $2K (10%)? How did you come to this price?
1. We picked early customers based on people we were already interacting with-- Alex frequently spoke with hosts
2. $20k/yr was about the average we saw (some much higher, others lower). We priced based on what we thought customers would pay and still be satisfied with the product.
Cool! Thank you for telling this inspiring story!
